Homemade Alfredo

This is super yummy and easy!  I just need to find a way to make it more healthy...any ideas?

Alfredo Sauce
1/2 cup butter
1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese
1 cup half and half
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon garlic powder (optional)
pepper, to taste
1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter.
2. Once butter is almost melted, add the package of cream cheese. It's easiest to cut it into 4 pieces so that it melts quicker.
3. Once butter and cream cheese are mixed well together, add the cup of half and half, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and then shake pepper on top. Stir all together until well mixed.
4. Once it's mixed well and sauce-like, take it off the burner and set aside so it can thicken up. Stir every few moments.
5. DONE! Pour over your favorite pasta!

Calling vs. Potential

I love what Pastor Mark (Pastor of Mars Hill Church in Seattle) says about calling vs. potential.  It's not about doing ALL that we can do, but what God has called us to do.  What has God called you to do?

Book Review: Making Money From Home

Making Money from Home
By: Donna Partow
$13.99 SRP

I wish I could right a glowing review of this book* and say that I loved it and would recommend.  But unfortunately I can't. Honestly I could barely make it through this book.  I think that it has taken my 8 months or something to get through most of it before giving it up for lost. I won't say much because I don't have a lot of positive things to say...and if you can't say something nice, you shouldn't say anything at all.

Donna shares different ways to become a business women from home.  She talks about business plans, raising start up costs,, marketing, etc.  I felt the tone of the book was harsh and not really supportive, which I didn't like.  I also disagree with the author on many points in the book and was frustrated by it.  I did like her chapter on blogging and found that to be helpful.  Women who want to work from home do it so they can work around their kids and home live and not be tied to a job.  I don't really think that she helped with how to do that.  She did touch on Network Marketing a bit, which is really one of the only ways to "have your cake and eat it too", so to speak.

All in all,  this is not a book that I would recommend reading.  There are many other better books on the market on this subject.

*I received a complimentary copy of the book for review purposes from Tyndale House
